After eight months of work, we have finally finished our LP “Postcards from Purgatory” and we’re ready to share it with the world. This is easily the biggest event of our careers (well…our ’self-proclaimed careers”..let’s not get crazy here). So how do we celebrate the biggest event of our careers? With the biggest show of our careers - that’s how!

Bands:
We hand picked some of our favorite local bands - Southern Lust Club, The Ground Up, Zagnutt (and we’re excited to meet Nihility too!) - and plopped ourselves down in the biggest and best venue we have ever been asked to play - The Middle East Downstairs.
DVD Shooting:
We’re pretty sure this night is going to be legendary. In fact, we’re so sure that we’re doubling down on it and shooting a DVD this night too. That means we’ll need all you crazy fuckers front and center going nuts. We’ll make you a deal too - if you make it into the DVD; you get it for free when it comes out.
About the Record:
Postcards from Purgatory” has been a labor of love for SPR for the past year, for some - even longer. Mick and Johnny started pulling the songs together all the way back in 2008 (they wrote the first track the day after “This is rock.” came out!) Plans for it were put aside after the band broke up, but upon our reformation in 2010 the project was revived.
It’s not a concept record, but it IS conceptual. The theme is simple - it’s a record about being stuck. Stuck between the motivation of ambition and the frustration of limitation. Wanting to rise out of an environment that, at the end of the day, is still inherently ‘home’. There are songs about where you want to be and where you don’t want to be, who you want to be and who you don’t want to be and, of course, songs about using a nice glass of whisky to dull the pain.
Our own Ryan Savary had an education in sound engineering that was collecting dust until we recorded this album and he did an amazing job. We really hope you’ll check it out!
