SUMMARY

An incredible exclamation point at the end of an unbelievable year. This show was the finish line - the last date that was on the calendar when our old bandmates quit on us. Every show going into this one was in and of itself, a mini miracle. Amidst a fierce blizzard and a lot of behind the scenes BS we drew over hundred happy people to the nicest room in Boston and had as much fun as I can ever remember.

The highlight was, without question, the performance of our friend Mr. Andrew T. Mitchell providing trombone accompaniment as Johnny and I dueled on the classic “Heatmiser, Snowmiser” song. The crowd was so warm, so friendly, so FUN. Johnny and I acknowledged that this may well have been our last show. I’m glad it wasn’t, but when that day finally comes, I hope to go out with one just like this. - Mick

SPR returns - Copperfields 11/7 - Show report

About halfway through the show last night Johnny and I looked at each other and kinda screamed out loud. I don’t exactly remember what he said; and I’m willing to be he doesn’t either. But it was jubilation, it was relief and it was the invincible sense of defiance that comes only from overcoming very very long odds.

On September 24th we were ready for this gig. By September 25, we were scrambling badly. It’s a part of the business that sometimes your bandmates will decide they don’t want it as much as they once did. But it was still a rough hand to be dealt, scrambling to audition and integrate 60% of the band with a tour looming large on the horizon.

We caught a lucky break; hitting the jackpot for all to see last night with tremendous performances by our rookie Stephie Coplan and our good friends James Hogg on bass and Steve DeBenedictis on drums. I was sick as a dog, fever and all, all day before taking the stage. But by the time we stepped in front of the packed house at Copperfield’s I felt damn near immortal. We all did. We decided the message of Used to Be King made it the perfect song to open with. The crowd jumped in the band shared smiles and the rest was history.

We had some fun moments throughout the set. Pretty Baby, Dirty Momma lit up the room, Stephie let everyone know that she’s Not Your Girlfriend and we even un-retired Hollywood (Anne’s Song).

That show was easily the most fun I’ve had in a long, long time. Thank you to all 100+ of you that made that one of our most successful Boston shows in a while.

Thank you Boston, it’s good to be back.

Love,
Mick

Tune into Totally Patriots, each Sunday at 10am on WSBK TV-38 to catch SPR and other elite Boston rock acts in the Rock Locker!

Hey everybody, we’re super excited that after months of waiting we finally got a look at our first episode of “Totally Patriots” today on TV38! They used “Meet Me On the Way” (and some lovely footage of our beautiful faces) to show off some highlights from the Pats’ amazing comeback win last week in their rocked-out, righteous AFC throwbacks.

The entire thing was filmed on-location in the locker rooms of Gillette Stadium back in April.

The short clip manages to capture the fun, energy and jubilation of an SPR show in just a few short seconds, so please makes sure to check it out.

Check it all out on YouTube and keep tuning in to “Totally Patriots” all season long to catch SPR’s future appearances.

Thank you to the New England Patriots, Kraft Sports Group productions and the entire staff for an amazing experience that we’re excited to finally be talking about! Stay tuned!
