The 5th Annual Christmas Sweater Jamboree - Our biggest, best and final show of 2011 is Friday!

December 7th, 2011
Bookmark and Share

We’ve reached the end of the biggest year of our career and we’re closing it out with our biggest (and favorite) show of the year.

Friday night, we take the stage of the gorgeous Hard Rock Cafe at 10pm. We’re bringing back SPR’s official trombonist, Mr. Andrew T. Mitchell (graciously on loan from The Othership), and busting out some of our favorite Christmas songs. In addition we’ll unleash a good number of the songs we’re planning to record this winter.

So find your ugliest sweater and come on out - we have prizes for the sweaters and this will be our longest set of the year!

Dewey Beach Update - Live Performance, Radio Appearance and a Free Song

So, this update is actually being typed from the front seat of the Self-Proclaimed Tour Bus as we sneak down to Delaware in the middle of the night for the Dewey Beach Music Conference!

We’ll be spending the next four days attending shows, seminars and as many free-booze functions as we possibly can. We’re doing this on the cheap (because we’re broke…real original, right?) so look out on Facebook and Twitter for updates from the Self-Proclaimed Luxury Suite….James’ multi-person tent that we’re parking at the Seashore Park Campground! 70 bucks for the trip or 70 bucks a night? No brainer!

Friday’s our big day. We’ll be up early to head into the studio at Radio 93.5 WZBH - The Beach to join JJ, Crank and the gang from “The Worst Show Ever” to discuss topics that will surely include our mutual love of self-deprecating names! We’re on around 8:30am and everyone back home can listen too as they also broadcast online!

Friday night we’re pretty fired up to be the last band to hit the stage at The Bottle & Cork, a club that’s been cranking out rock almost as long as rock has been around. We go on at 12:20am (so technically, Saturday). If you’re down here, come on out!

We especially want to thank those of you who found your way here by scanning the QR Code on our giveaways (demos, lyric books, stickers, etc)! We submitted our song Whisky to Dewey Beach Compilation disk because wanted everyone to grab a copy. So if you didn’t get a disc, you can grab it here!

The Self-Proclaimed Rockstars sign with Fleming Entertainment Enterprises

Mick Greenwood….YOU’RE FIRED!

We’re psyched to announce that we are under new management. Fleming Entertainment Enterprises has sent us a contract and we have signed it, adding us to their roster.

What’s this mean for us? It means we now have an entire business (not just our own spare time) dedicated to the management and growth of our little band. We’re even going to do the whole professional press release dueling quotes…..ready??? Ok…here we go:

We are happy to announce the newest addition to the Fleming Entertainment Enterprises Lineup…The Self-Proclaimed Rockstars! One of the most honest bands out there today, SPR looks to bring true rock n roll back to the forefront of today’s music. We can’t wait to watch this band spread it’s wings!

Fleming Entertainment
President and CEO

And of course there’s this asshole….

“Most days we just want to make music. We want to play shows, we want to write, we want to rehearse. But, the business-side of music is enormous and it’s exhausting. We’ve watched band after band be defeated by the business-side and vowed that would not happen to us. By partnering with FEE, we get reinforcements in our fight that are every bit as ambitious, honest and relentless as we are. It’s pretty awesome.

And now we return to writing our next record :)
