After a brief stint in the studio, we’re starting the year on the road and heading to Brooklyn, the home of Mario AND Luigi!

We’re playing at a really cool room called Bar Matchless..it’s an old auto repair shop in Green Point which means most of our on-stage banter will consist of “Ayyyy” and “Jeeeeez” and “Hey whoa whoa”.

We’re playing with some seriously awesome bands:

A significant portion of our best shows have taken place in New York, so you better believe we’re bringing it.

Why This Song?
A few reasons:

• We had a ton of fun playing it live this year
• We feel the way we play it is very true to our own style
• It’s a fricking awesome song, honestly
• The Talking Heads are one of the few bands we all love..not like…love.
• From a content standpoint, we feel like this song is pretty relevant right now; not only to the world at large, but to the record we’re about to record

Why Did You Release a Cover?
We want to try to record a cover song every year! We released Bad Romance last year and, hopefully, we’ll be around next year to kick out another one. We do it as a ‘thank you’ to our fans. As fans ourselves, we love when our favorite bands cover our other favorite bands. Hopefully some people feel that way about us.

How Did You Record It?
Ryan Savary strikes again! Our resident audio whiz-kid once again served as producer, but we did things completely different this time. Instead of track-by-track, we recorded all of the instruments at the same time - something we’ve never done before. It was a total blast and we think Ryan really captured the fun we have playing it on this recording.

We’ve reached the end of the biggest year of our career and we’re closing it out with our biggest (and favorite) show of the year.

Friday night, we take the stage of the gorgeous Hard Rock Cafe at 10pm. We’re bringing back SPR’s official trombonist, Mr. Andrew T. Mitchell (graciously on loan from The Othership), and busting out some of our favorite Christmas songs. In addition we’ll unleash a good number of the songs we’re planning to record this winter.

So find your ugliest sweater and come on out - we have prizes for the sweaters and this will be our longest set of the year!

So, this update is actually being typed from the front seat of the Self-Proclaimed Tour Bus as we sneak down to Delaware in the middle of the night for the Dewey Beach Music Conference!

We’ll be spending the next four days attending shows, seminars and as many free-booze functions as we possibly can. We’re doing this on the cheap (because we’re broke…real original, right?) so look out on Facebook and Twitter for updates from the Self-Proclaimed Luxury Suite….James’ multi-person tent that we’re parking at the Seashore Park Campground! 70 bucks for the trip or 70 bucks a night? No brainer!

Friday’s our big day. We’ll be up early to head into the studio at Radio 93.5 WZBH - The Beach to join JJ, Crank and the gang from “The Worst Show Ever” to discuss topics that will surely include our mutual love of self-deprecating names! We’re on around 8:30am and everyone back home can listen too as they also broadcast online!

Friday night we’re pretty fired up to be the last band to hit the stage at The Bottle & Cork, a club that’s been cranking out rock almost as long as rock has been around. We go on at 12:20am (so technically, Saturday). If you’re down here, come on out!
