Postcards from Purgatory (LP) pre-order promotion
“Postcards from Purgatory” has been a labor of love for SPR for the past year, for some - even longer. Mick and Johnny started pulling the songs together all the way back in 2008 (they wrote the first track the day after “This is rock.” came out!) Plans for it were put aside after the band broke up, but upon our reformation in 2010 the project was revived.
It’s not a concept record, but it IS conceptual. The theme is simple - it’s a record about being stuck. Stuck between the motivation of ambition and the frustration of limitation. Wanting to rise out of an environment that, at the end of the day, is still inherently ‘home’. There are songs about where you want to be and where you don’t want to be, who you want to be and who you don’t want to be and, of course, songs about using a nice glass of whisky to dull the pain.
Our own Ryan Savary had an education in sound engineering that was collecting dust until we recorded this album and he did an amazing job. We really hope you’ll check it out!
